What is swamp gas?

Swamp gas is a type of biogas that is produced by the decomposition of organic matter in wetland areas such as swamps, marshes, and bogs. It is primarily composed of methane, carbon dioxide, and other trace gases.

Swamp gas can be ignited and can be dangerous if it collects in a closed space, causing explosions. However, it is not typically a health hazard for humans in open outdoor areas.

Swamp gas has been known to contribute to paranormal sightings such as ghostly apparitions, unexplained lights, and mysterious sounds in swampy areas. These sightings are often attributed to the gas’s ability to distort or refract light and sound, creating eerie optical illusions and auditory anomalies.
